Hammam & Spa Oktogon

Wellness & spa

About

According to the operator, Hammam Bern (Hammam & Spa Oktogon) stands on the foundations of Switzerland's first gasometer from the 19th century, an octagonal building called the Oktogon. The bathing rooms span four floors, with a warm relaxation bath under a 13-metre dome at the centre.

The visit centres on an oriental cleansing ritual: the circuit takes about two hours and leads through several rooms, including the Kese and Lif scrub rooms. Only a borrowed cotton cloth, the pestemal, is worn throughout.

  • An oriental hammam in an old octagonal gasworks, bathing rooms over four floors
  • A warm relaxation bath under a 13-metre dome
  • Steam baths and the Kese and Lif scrub rooms
  • Pestemal and Kese scrub glove are lent, tea in the bistro is included in the entry
  • Massages, Day Spa packages and a Rhassoul mask
