About
Sonnenbad is a municipal open-air pool from 1915 at Karlsruhe's Rhine harbour, which the operator says has the longest season of all Karlsruhe outdoor pools, roughly from mid-March to the end of October. It has a heated 50 m swimming pool with six lanes, in the main season also a non-swimmer pool with a slide and a paddling pool, plus a large lawn with a playground and a kiosk.
It is the only Karlsruhe outdoor pool with a small sauna area: two cabins, a Finnish sauna (85 °C) with an automatic infusion every 60 minutes and a hay-flower sauna (60 °C). In 2026 the last bathing day was 31 October; from 1 November the pool is closed.
