De Woudfennen is a wellness centre in Joure in Friesland, which the operator says has been a household name for more than thirty years and calls the best sauna in Friesland. The operator describes it as cosy, warm, rustic and relaxed.
There are nine saunas and, according to the site, five baths, plus a hamam, massages and a beauty institute. A connected hotel, Country Rose, has 12 rooms, so a sauna stay with an overnight is possible.

The evening rate starts at 16:30, according to the operator. Closed on 24 and 25 May (Whitsun), 25 December, 31 December and 1 January. On some Monday holidays (e.g. 21 and 28 December 2026) the ladies' day does not apply.

Rules and good to know
- Swimwear is not worn in the resort, and there are no swimwear days
- Children up to 12 are welcome only with an adult
- On sauna and relaxation loungers you must sit on a large enough towel
- A shower is required before using pools, plunge pools and other baths
- A bathrobe is required in the restaurant, relaxation room and on the terrace
- Phones, laptops and other electronics are banned; photos and filming are strictly forbidden
- Disturbing behaviour, including wanted or unwanted intimacy, is not allowed
- Own essential oils on the stoves are not allowed
Getting there
Address: Woudfennen 10, 8503 BA Joure. According to the operator it is an hour's drive from the Randstad and near Sneek, Heerenveen, Drachten and Leeuwarden.
The operator notes ongoing maintenance work and advises checking the route beforehand.
