Terme dei Papi
large outdoor thermal pool and natural steam grotto
About
Terme dei Papi lies near Viterbo in the Tuscia region and draws on the Bullicame hyperthermal spring, which rises at 58 °C. Its main attraction is the Piscina Monumentale, an outdoor pool of about 2,000 m² fed exclusively by water from this spring. The complex also includes the four-star superior Niccolò V hotel and a restaurant.
Besides the pool there is the Grotta Naturale, a natural steam grotto cut into the rock at 45–48 °C and about 100% humidity, the Hydrosound sensory pool with music and chromotherapy, and a vascular circuit alternating warm and cold water. Guests can buy a pool-only ticket or a Terme Romane or Day Spa package.
